Benedick came to us with Lilac and Sir Grummore, though they had never shared a pen or even met. We’re not sure of his age but we are sure that he’s less than two years old. He was very shy and would run away from us squealing if we paid him too much attention. His quarantine area was Beatrice’s old hut; therefore, we named him Benedick, the obvious partner for a Beatrice whose name came from Much Ado About Nothing.
While Benny spent his first weeks here wanting to isolate himself, when the weather got colder we put him to bed at night with Josh and Biff, two other new arrivals who are still extremely relaxed and confident. While at first Benny was certain that these two were going to eat him, he soon accepted his place as the center of their sleeping sandwich, and the three still sleep together every night. Benny just needed a family to help him feel confident and happy.
