Lilac arrived at Darrowby in September of 2022, with Benedick and Sir Grummore Grummersum, although they had never shared a pen on their former property or even met. Lilac is our largest girl at easily 800 pounds, but like Miss Honey she is destined to be a fitness piggie. Immediately upon being released from quarantine Lilac started taking long walks around the pasture, grazing in the lower pasture past dusk. Fortunately, while being our largest girl she is also our gentlest soul; she gets excited when she sees people and gives us little woofs of happiness; she really only wants to be patted and told how beautiful and smart she is.
Lilac also loves our barn and despite the usual territorial behavior that comes with established pigs meeting new pigs, she has made it her mission to sleep in the barn instead of her quarantine hut, no matter what. After a lifetime of living in a small pen and a small hut, Lilac knows the good life when she sees it. This winter, Lilac was befriended by Beatrice, our littlest girl. Whether their friendship was spurred by the impressive amount of heat Lilac puts out with her body and Bea’s love of a warm bed, or by a meeting of true kindred souls, only they know. But our biggest girl and our littlest girl are best friends regardless.
