Visiting Darrowby Farm Sanctuary?

Despite providing sanctuary for over 60 residents, we are a small operation with a small staff. We’re excited to share our work with our neighbors and community, but we are limited in time we can devote to tours.

Here are the upcoming tour dates:

Upcoming Events

Please contact us to reserve your spot on the tour. Tours last one hour.

If you can’t make these tours, or would like a private visit, we are happy to arrange those insofar as we are able for a donation of $40 per member of your group. Please contact us to schedule your private tour. We require 48 hours notice to accommodate private tours.

Things to keep in mind when preparing for your visit

The animals who live here came from a variety of situations, and many experienced hardship before arriving here. Please refrain from loud noises and sudden movements when in their areas.

As a sanctuary, our central focus is on the well-being of our residents. They may or may not be interested in meeting guests, and we do not pressure them to do so. It’s possible that you may be able to pat some of our residents through the fence, but we do not make any promises. We are a sanctuary, not a farm or a petting zoo, so the focus of our work is ensuring the health and happiness of our residents.

Please do not bring food, gum, candy, or anything else edible into the sanctuary. Pigs can smell objects ten feet into the ground, and they will definitely know if you have snacks with you.

We are open to the public only at scheduled tour times or for previously arranged private tours. The rest of the time we are not available to the public. There are no public or private tours available on Sundays, without exception. Our staff live on sanctuary property, and we appreciate your respect of our privacy.

FAQs?

Is there a bathroom?

We have a port-a-potty on the premises for visitor use.

Where do we park?

Please drive to 216 N Mountain Rd, where you will see our sign, pull in to the driveway across the road from the tan house, and park along the fence-line. We will meet you there.

Will I be able to pat the animals?

You may get the chance to pat the residents through the fence, but this is dependent on their wishes. ‘For our residents’ safety and yours, we do not allow guests to enter any of our living spaces.

Can I bring treats for the animals? What about produce from my garden?

All of our residents are on carefully constructed and monitored diets, so no treats, please. We have a few trusted sources of produce donations, but for the safety of our residents, we cannot accept garden overflow or other food donations. If you would like to become a regular produce donor, please email amanda@darrowbyfarmsanctuary.org

Can I bring my toddler?

Yes! But keep in mind that toddlers who like to put things from the ground in their mouths will probably keep their caregivers busy at our sanctuary.

Are you accessible?

The majority of our resident areas can be driven up to. We have hosted wheelchair users in the past and are actively working to become a safer, more welcoming, and more accessible place for all of our guests.

Are any animals here available for adoption?

No. As a sanctuary, we provide lifelong care for every resident. That means that we are committed to their care from the minute they arrive, for their entire lives.

Can I bring my school/camp group for a visit?

Yes! We love collaborating with schools and camps. Please email amanda@darrowbyfarmsanctuary.org to make a plan.
