Harriet was another piglet who came to us out of the blue. Summer is usually a heavy piglet time, as people either “win” piglets they’re not equipped to handle at inhumane pig scrambles, buy piglets they can’t keep confined and then lose them, or often, find piglets dumped at their homes and try to find them safe homes.
Of all the piglets we’ve taken in, Harriet is the most distrustful of humans. After months of loving care and food, she will still only tolerate the lightest of touches from human hands. She is not fearful by nature; she’s an explorer, a rooter, and an instant best friend to fellow piglet Hector. Unfortunately this makes us think that whatever happened to her at the hands of humans must have been horrific. As of September 2023, Harriet and Hector are best friends who share a fluffy dog bed every night and explore together every day. They maneuver under and around the big kids, but they are always within sight of each other. We are so grateful that beautiful Harriet found her way to us, and that she has a family to love her forever.
